Chanterelle funnel or funnel: photo and description

Mushroom pickers love to collect chanterelles, because they are practically not affected by insects. In addition, its aroma and taste are at the highest level. All types of mushrooms can be tubular or lamellar, the chanterelle belongs to the lamellar. You can see this feature by looking at the underside of the cap.

Edible mushroom chanterelle

Latin name: Cantharellus tubaeformis.

Family: Chanterelles.

Synonyms: funnel chanterelle, chanterelle chanterelle, funnel chanterelle, tubular lobe, cantarell tubular.

Hat: small in size, up to 4 cm in diameter, sometimes up to 6 cm, even or convex. With age, it stretches and acquires a funnel shape. In the photo of the tubular chanterelle it is seen that the edges of the hat are wavy, strongly tucked:

The surface is uneven, grayish-yellow in color, covered with dark velvety scales.

Leg: up to 8 cm in height and 3-8 mm in thickness, cylindrical, often squeezed on the sides, tubular, hollow, smoothly turning into a hat. The color of the legs is yellow, chrome yellow, dims with age.

Pulp: thin, dense, elastic, white or yellowish. It has an earthy pleasant aroma, it tastes slightly bitter. Adult specimens have an unpleasant aftertaste, so it is not recommended to collect them.

Records: presented in the form of “false plates”, that is, an extensive network of vein folds, gradually descending to the stem, the color of the plates is light gray, inconspicuous. Looking under the hat, you can just see what kind of foxes are in their structure: tubular or lamellar.

Edibility: edible delicious mushroom of the 2nd category. It has the same value as the common chanterelle. It is used in cooking for various processing processes: frying, boiling, drying, pickling, pickling, etc. Sometimes the fruit body is considered to be of poor quality due to the harsh pulp, but this feature is solved by heat treatment.

Similarities and differences of tubular chanterelles from other mushrooms

Similarities and differences: fortunately, the fox is not poisonous doubles, so there is no risk of poisoning with this fungus. Both species, mentioned below, are edible and are widely used in cooking.

The chanterelle fox looks like yellowing fox (Cantharellus lutescens)However, the latter has a less branched and weakly protruding hymenophore.

Funnel gray (Craterellus cornucopioides) also similar to funnel chanterelle. The difference is the dull and much darker color belonging to the funnel. In addition, this representative has a smooth hymenophore.

Spread: mixed as well as coniferous forests located throughout Russia and Ukraine. The chanterelle grows in groups from spring to late autumn. Peak harvest occurs in the August-October months.
