Mushroom submarine and photo. Suspension (Ivishnya)

Category: edible.

Other names: sapwood, willow cherry, cherry, clitopilus vulgaris.

Latin name submarine (Clitopilus prunulus) literally translates to “small plum”. This is because the color of young plums is completely similar to the color of this fungus.

Also, the sack owes its name to the places of distribution - very often the mushroom and sour cherry settle under cherry and plum trees.

Below you can familiarize yourself with the description and photo of the monk, know about its counterparts and its use in cooking and traditional medicine.

Hat (diameter 5-13 cm): matte, white or grayish, when pressed noticeably darkens. Over time, changes shape from hemispherical to flat or strongly depressed. The edges are usually tucked to the inside, and in the center there is often a small tubercle. Slightly pubescent, to the touch in rainy or damp weather, slippery and sticky, and in the dry - smooth.

Leg (height 3-9 cm): one color with a hat, solid, often curved, has a cylindrical shape and expands from bottom to top. It is covered with powdery coating or a weak fluff.

Pay attention to the photo of the mushroom and cherry: its narrow plates change color as it grows. At first they are white or light yellow in color, then they become light pink.

Pulp: dense, white, very soft. It has a characteristic smell of fresh flour. Some mushroom pickers claim that the scent of scoria reminds cucumber.

Doppelganger Doubles: waxy tongue (Clitocybe cerussata) and whitish (Clitocybe dealbata). The scallop is distinguished by the absence of watery rings on the hat and the color of the plates in adult mushrooms. Bitter seroplastic (Clitopilus mundulus) is similar in appearance to the scavenger, but its cap has concentric cracks and the flesh is very bitter.

When growing: from early July to mid-October in temperate European countries.

Where can I find: on acidic and clay soils of all types of forests, it is often found next to birch trees and oaks. It can also grow near garden trees - plums or cherries.

Eating: in any form, subject to preliminary boiling for 15-20 minutes. It is not recommended to store unprocessed mushrooms for a long time.

Application in traditional medicine (data not confirmed and not passed clinical trials!): in the form of an extract with a strong anticoagulating property.

Important! Suspended mushroom looks very similar to many deadly poisonous mushrooms, they can often be distinguished only in laboratory conditions, so it is not recommended to collect it with little experienced mushroom pickers.
