False honey agaric seroplate (poppy)

Gathering mushrooms is an exciting and enjoyable activity for everyone who wants to relax from the bustle of the city. Noble mushrooms, such as ceps, boletus, boletus, are very difficult to find. But honey mushrooms can grow in any forest, on any trees and at any time of the year.

However, it is worth noting that even when collecting mushrooms, you need to be careful. In our forests, in addition to edible species: summer, autumn and winter, there are also species of false honey mushrooms. Some of them can be eaten, as they are called conditionally edible, while others are poisonous. Therefore, to understand, you need to have some knowledge about the appearance of edible and inedible mushrooms. You should also know where they meet and what time they grow.

An edible fungus is considered to be a seroplate honey agaric, which is confidently different from poisonous mushrooms. That is why lovers of "silent hunting", in addition to knowledge about mushrooms, should have vision sensitive to the color scheme. We offer you to familiarize yourself with the description and photo of the seroplastic plate:

Larva seroplate (hypholoma capnoides): photo and description

Latin name: Hypholoma capnoides

Gender: Hyphole.

Family: Strophariaceae.

Synonyms: Poppy fillet, false poppy seed, false seroplate, hypholoma poppy.

Hat: diameter from 3 to 7 cm, has a hemispherical shape in young individuals and convex-open in mature specimens. Often on the edges of the cap remain pieces of the bedspread. The hat is hygrophanic, i.e. the color is completely dependent on air humidity. In dry weather, the hat is dull yellow, more saturated with color in the middle. In wet weather, it becomes light brown with a bright middle. The flesh of the hat is whitish and thin, has a mild odor of dampness.

Leg: the seroplate foil has a leg with a height of 4 to 8 cm. Its thickness ranges from 0.3 to 0.9 cm. The upper part is yellowish in color and the lower part is reddish brown. The shape resembles a cylinder, often curved and with scraps of “skirt”.

Records: the seroplate foil has thick and adherent plates. In young mushrooms, the plates are yellowish with a white tint; when growing up, they become the color of poppy seeds.

Spread: grows only on stumps, dying trees and on roots hidden in the soil. He is a frequent guest on conifers, especially on spruces and pines. It grows easily in the lowlands and high in the mountains. The entire temperate zone of the northern hemisphere abounds with this species of mushrooms. The honey agarics are collected from April to October, and sometimes, if the winters are warm, then in December.

Edibility: seroplate larva Hypholoma capnoides is an edible mushroom, similar to summer honey agaric. Only overripe specimens have a musty smell of dampness. Young individuals smell pleasantly, their smell resembles a forest aroma, combined with the smell of the earth.

When to collect seroplate mushrooms and what to cook from them

Mushroom pickers with experience call the seroplate honey agarics “the second summer honey agaric”, it belongs to the 4th category. From it you can cook a wide variety of dishes, they can be salted, dried, pickled. Before use, the foamed seroplate must be boiled in salted water for 15-20 minutes. In addition, experts recommend collecting only hats from this fruiting body, since their legs are very rigid, similar to rubber. Look at the photo of the gray platelet honey fly, which is often found in forests of all Russian regions:

Mushroom pickers are accustomed to collecting only 3 types of edible mushrooms: summer, autumn and winter. However, there is such a mushroom, which is called false seroplamennoy worm. This is an edible mushroom, although many bypass it. His main problem is that he looks like poisonous and inedible mushrooms.

Very often false honey agarics are known as poppy seeds or seroplate, as well as poppy hypholoma. These mushrooms can be consumed just like ordinary edible mushrooms, but only after heat treatment. And most importantly - do not pick overripe mushrooms, because they have absolutely no taste.

All honey mushrooms, including seroplate ones, can be collected from spring to late autumn. They grow mainly on stumps, dying trees, tree-felled trunks and fallen branches. Sometimes they can be found right on the ground. However, this does not say that they grow there directly on the soil. Apparently, under the surface of the earth there are roots from some stump or tree.

If you decide to collect a false seroplamenous scum, be careful - this mushroom is very easy to confuse with a sulfur-yellow false scum that is considered dangerous. However, poisonous mushrooms have green discs and taste very bitter.

The most important factor when picking mushrooms is always a single rule: collect those honey mushrooms in which you are sure. If you do not have color photographs of all edible mushrooms with you, go to the forest with a knowledgeable person with experience in this matter.
